WHAT IS ALPHA?
The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. Its relaxed, non-threatening, low key. friendly and fun. There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives you an opportunity to get to know each other. Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or to

Welcome to Bethany ....

Imagine for a moment...

  • A Church that touches all age groups and sectors of the community
  • A Church that presents the Gospel in clear, biblical yet contemporary fashion
  • A Church that has successfully planted a congregation which now numbers in excess of 150, yet still has over 300 adults and almost 100 children and young people meeting every Sunday
  • A Church which runs activities for children and young people of every age
  • A Church which regularly sees over 100 adults together with their toddlers meeting every Wednesday
  • A Church that runs a successful Senior Citizens club which attracts over 80 people every Tuesday
  • A Church that encourages every one of its members to be actively involved in Ministry
  • A Church which has existed for over 100 years, yet is modern, forward thinking, and excited about its future

Imagine no more!! This is Bethany Christian Centre in Houghton-le-Spring, a Church of which you can be a vital part. We exist to glorify God and serve Him. We are so grateful for all that He has done in the past, and wish to praise and thank Him for His many blessings. But as we do so, we also want to dedicate ourselves to follow Him as we look to the future.

“I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you, to give you hope and a future”. (Jeremiah 29). So we, as God’s people, “press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenwards in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3). What a thrilling future we will have, if we fully trust our Lord and Saviour.
